I want to do more hymn lyric art in the future if possible, and thought this one was a good place to start. This piece is 100% human-designed, and undoubtedly imperfect. Then again, the original hymn was written to be sung by imperfect people. The song's focus lies entirely on the ultimate sufficiency of God's Word, not the self-sufficiency of His followers. Scripture is accessible--not some text reserved only for the "holy" of this world. Rather, those burdened and weary are invited to come for relief and hope.
How firm a foundation we have. It's one thing that is decidedly not replaceable.
